Our Bernese Mountain dog during family picture day!

A man and a woman are standing in a rustic indoor setting with a Bernese Mountain Dog. The woman is holding the dog, which is wearing a plaid scarf, while the man smiles beside them. In the background, there are holiday decorations including wreaths and festive banners.

We love our Bernese Mountain Dog. He, like his breed, has a sweet and loving temperament. This pup is eager to please and loves to befriend everyone who walks by. Always greeted by his sweetness, our puppy is one of a kind! Berner babies never grow up.

Training Techniques

We have learned that the best way to train our Berner is by encouraging his good behavior. When he first came home, we quickly realized that he responds best when we positively reinforce his good behavior. They are very sensitive dogs, and their feelings can get easily hurt.

Have a treat ready to reward them when they are good, and these pups are very teachable.

Sometimes training is not easy, but stick to it and your berner will be a well-trained companion. They are quick learners. I have to say, this breed has the most easy-going temperament of dog that I have ever had. They are sweet with children, adults, and older adults. You can trust them with your family. Perfect family dog!

Helpful hints for new bernese mountain dog parents

My suggestion is to invest in a strong and secure garbage can lid if you are getting a Bernese Mountain puppy. These pets are very food-motivated and, if not closely monitored, can get into trouble easily with unattended food items.

Here is one of our first videos of my Bernese Mountain Dog playing in my yard. They are absolutely adorable and playful puppies and will stay that way through adulthood.
